Across the world, 2.18 million heat pumps get sold every year. This is increasing as people realize the many advantages they bring. But do you know how your home can benefit?

If you are thinking of getting one installed, we can help. Read on as we discuss three considerations to make about a ductless heat pump.

1. They Are Very Energy Efficient

The efficiency of any HVAC device is measured by dividing the output by the input. Thus, the bigger the cooling power and the lower the energy it uses, the better the efficiency becomes. These devices are usually measured using the Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) rating, which you can find on electrical products.

These are important when comparing heat pumps to other products, not just for environmental factors but because energy prices are reaching a premium. Heating and cooling technology have been improving concerning energy efficiency for some time, and a heat pump is the pinnacle of this.

2. There Are Different Types of Ductless Heat Pumps

When it comes to finding the best ductless heat pump, there are different versions on the market. Each of these will suit various needs and budgets.

A ductless mini split is the most common type of heat pump and operates in a similar way to a ductless mini split AC unit. They have an outdoor unit with a condenser and compressor and an internal unit with an evaporator. Very energy efficient, they also don’t require expensive ductwork.

You can also get a window or through-the-wall heat pump. For these, a space needs to exist, either a window cavity or a hole physically made in the wall itself. Air will get expelled to the outside, and warm or cool air will radiate out on the inside.

There are even portable heat pumps. With these, the whole unit is in a single container that can be moved around the property. Units are either single or double-hosed, and these must go through an exit, such as a window, to the outside of the building.

3. Installation Is Easy

When you have ductwork installed, it is a large job. Not only is the financial outlay a lot, but it causes disruption. The bigger the property, the worse this becomes.

With a ductless heat pump, this is minimal. Window units only need slotting into the frame and caulking to prevent air from escaping. Wall units may need some more work, such as a hole creation, but this is not much.

The biggest job will be installing a ductless mini split, though this won’t take long either. Once the outside unit and inside units get installed, they are then linked by narrow drainage pipes and the electrics. They will then be ready to go.
